Advanced Radiosurgery Treatments

Mercy’s radiation oncologists are giving new hope to cancer patients with conditions that were previously considered inaccessible or inoperable with specialized technology:

• Gamma Knife® technology is considered the “gold standard” all over the world for treating cancer and non-malignant tumors and illnesses of the brain
• The TrueBeam® linear accelerator provides noninvasive radiotherapy treatment using 3D imaging for increased precision leading to fewer side effects.
• Calypso is utilized to track prostate movement during stereotactic treatments for prostate cancer (requires as little as five treatments)

Cancer Screenings

The Coletta Cancer Center in Oklahoma City offers a variety of recommended cancer screenings to help detect cancer at early stages. Cancer screening greatly improves the odds of early detection, which can lead to less invasive and more successful treatment since cancer has not yet had a chance to spread.

Breast Cancer Screening

The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women beginning at age 45. We offer screening and diagnostic mammograms (including 3D Mammography) with expert follow-up care. Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer symptoms may not show up until an advanced stage. Screening with a low-dose CT (LDCT) scan can detect lung cancer earlier than ever, which can improve the chances of survival. It’s recommended for people age 55-77 with risk factors for lung cancer.

Colon Cancer Screening

The American Cancer Society recommends annual colorectal cancer screening beginning at the age of 45. Mercy primary care doctors and Mercy colon specialists can help determine which screening test is best for you. Colorectal cancer can be hereditary and genetic testing is available.

Skin Cancer Screening

Regular skin self-exams are the best way to spot changes to moles, freckles and other skin marks between regular medical exams with your primary care doctor.
