Oklahoma Hospitals Go Live on Epic
On June 27, Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City and Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Okla., went live on the Epic electronic health record system, as part of Mercy’s seventh and eighth hospital go-lives. Since Mercy began using Epic in early 2008, more than 1.8 million patient electronic health records have been created.
Ardmore Opens New Patient Tower
On the same day they went live on the Epic system, co-workers at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore moved patients to the new 158-bed patient tower. The $60 million patient tower houses private rooms, a women’s health center and an improved intensive care unit. It was made possible in large part by the generosity of the Ardmore community, which raised over $22.1 million to fund its construction.
St. John’s Mercy Installing Powerful 3T MRI Scanner
By July 16, St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis will complete installation of the first 3T MRI scanner in the Mercy health ministry. The 3T MRI provides much clearer images than traditional MRI machines and will help physicians improve accuracy of diagnoses and treatments of several diseases and will allow physicians to perform procedures that cannot be done with current 1.5T scanners.
Mercy Ranks High in Modern Healthcare Survey
According to an annual survey by Modern Healthcare magazine, Mercy is the eighth largest Catholic health system in the nation and the 30th largest among all healthcare systems, based on net patient service revenue.
