ROi Supply Watch 2009
Supply Watch is an annual publication for ROi’s members that provides guidance on supply costs from an industry perspective to help our members prepare budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.

About the GPO
ROi’s Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) is the eighth largest in the nation by purchasing volume and 15 by GPO membership, according to Modern Healthcare magazine.

With approximately $560 million in contracted volume, ROi’s GPO has responsibility for:
  • Supply, pharmaceutical and capital equipment contracting
  • Contract compliance and monitoring
  • Centralized item master file and pricing administration
  • Rebate management
  • Member services

We have one of the highest levels of compliance of any GPO in the nation. Current contract compliance on medical supplies exceeds 80%. Based on health industry figures, ROi leads GPOs nationally with the largest contracted dollars per hospital member.

Clinical Involvement
We are committed to involving clinicians up front in product review and selection to assure that contracted products meet clinical needs and are reliably available. Through the ROiAligned process, physicians, clinicians, hospital leaders and other purchasing decision-makers are united to provide input on selection of products to achieve the highest quality at the best price.

Direct Contracting
ROi seeks relationships with vendors who appreciate the value of a very efficient selling process. Being a key vendor partner means:

  • Your products are available across ROi’s entire customer base
  • Sales and account servicing costs are reduced
  • Time required for contracting is reduced significantly
  • Timely and accurate usage reports are generated from real-time data

ROi also acts as a single point of contact for customer inquiries, reducing complexity and improving efficiency for our vendor partners.

ROi in the Media

CSCMP Explores
(April 2009) – ROi's success is the subject of the entire spring 2009 issue of CSCMP Explores, a members-only magazine of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). The article, written by ROi President Vance Moore, chronicles ROi’s creation within a fragmented healthcare supply chain system, its success in establishing a new model, and its influence on patient safety/clinical quality success with projects such as Mercy Meds, Mercy SafeWatch and the Mercy Safety Center. The article also explores how ROi’s success has led to international recognition and some of the innovative solutions ROi currently is implementing to address future challenges.

Materials Management in Healthcare
(December 2008) – ROi was cited in the December issue of Materials Management in Healthcare as an example of commitment to data standard adoption due to participation in several global data standards pilots and internal integration of global locator numbers into the Lawson supply chain management system.

Modern Healthcare GPO Survey
(September 2008) – ROi's Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) was ranked the eighth largest in the nation by purchasing volume, according to the annual Modern Healthcare magazine Group Purchasing survey. ROi also ranked 15 by GPO membership. The full article may be found in a special feature in the September 1 issue of Modern Healthcare.

Consolidated Services Center (CSC)

The CSC is located in Springfield, Missouri. The 85,000-square-foot facility allows ROi to purchase supplies in bulk directly from manufacturers and to handle storage and distribution internally, eliminating the expense of distributors. The CSC also is able to electronically tack and manage the use of supplies, improving efficiency in ordering and inventory systems.
