We want to make it as simple as possible for you to register as an outpatient, inpatient or emergency room visitor. Our electronic health record stores all your key personal and medical data so any Mercy facility can pull it up instantly. The process is quicker, and there’s no need for you to submit the same information over and over.
As a part of our healing ministry, we are committed to providing quality health care services to patients regardless of their financial situation. We offer payment assistance for those who do not have insurance or who are in financial need. Visit our Financial Assistance/Charity Care information page for more information.
We want to protect our patients and staff from infectious diseases. For this reason, we follow guidelines, called Standard Precautions, when caring for our patients. This helps prevent the spread of germs between patients. These precautions include good hand washing and wearing gloves when appropriate.
In some cases, you may see a special sign on a patient's door with instructions for infection control precautions. If so, please check with the attending nurse for assistance before you visit the patient.
Many patients have weakened immune systems that make them very susceptible to a variety of illnesses. People who are ill with a cold, fever, diarrhea, flu or contagious disease should not visit a patient in the health center. In addition, children who have been exposed to or who have chicken pox, measles, mumps, pinkeye or rubella should not come to Mercy to visit a patient.
As a natural outgrowth of our belief, values and mission, we recognize that patients have certain rights and responsibilities.
The Patient Self-Determination Act of 1991 requires health care providers to inform you of your rights as recognized under Kansas law to make decisions concerning your medical care. This includes your right to accept or refuse medical or surgical treatment and your right to write an advance directive.
A television is provided in your room. One remote control operates both the TV and bed. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping the volume low and turning it off at bedtime.
We provide basic and extended basic cable TV channels. Premium, pay-per-view and some extended basic channels are not available. The C.A.R.E (Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment) channel is located on channel 84. Patient education videos are also available on channels 80 -83.
Each patient room has a telephone. Your family and friends may call the Mercy operator at 620-223-2200 and request to be connected to your room. You may place an outside local call at any time.
To place a call to a patient room within the hospital, dial 2 plus the room number.
To place a local call outside the hospital, dial 9 and then the outside number, including area code.
If you would like to make a long-distance call, you may call collect, charge it to your telephone credit card or bill it to a third party. Calls may not be billed to your room.
Patients, visitors, employees and physicians have access to free, high-speed wireless Internet access (WiFi@Mercy). This service allows you to check email, browse the web or connect to servers for work, education, entertainment, etc. A laptop, notebook computer or PDA (Palm®, BlackBerry™ or other Internet enabled, hand-held device) is needed.
Volunteers and members of the Mercy Auxiliary contribute many hours of service and financial support to our care. They can be identified by the badges they wear. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or auxilian, call 620-223-8430.
