- traveler's diarrhea (by far the most common risk - affecting 20 percent to 50 percent of international travelers)
- enterotoxic E. coli diarrhea
- malaria
- acute febrile respiratory tract infections
- hepatitis A
- gonorrhea
- animal bites with rabies risk
- hepatitis B
- typhoid fever
- HIV infection
- Legionella infection
- cholera
- meningococcal disease
