Mercy Emergency Department - Mercy Hospital St. Louis

Mercy Hospital St. Louis operates the only Level I Trauma Center in St. Louis County. (Level I centers represent large urban hospitals that commit a significant amount of resources to research in improving care of traumatized patients.) The hospital handles a major share of the area's trauma cases and provides medical direction for six fire/ambulance districts. Our Emergency Department staff diagnoses and treats major and minor traumatic and medical emergencies, providing advanced care 24 hours a day, every day.

The Emergency Department features:

• 24 adult treatment rooms, six adult trauma rooms
• Eight pediatric treatment rooms, four pediatric trauma room
• An area designated for minor injuries and illnesses with six rooms
• Separate adult and pediatric triage and waiting areas
• State-of-the-art treatment areas and centrally-located imaging services
• Large ambulance bay with capacity for five ambulances
• An enlarged helipad with space for several helicopters
