Sisters of Mercy Health System Names Vice President

St. Louis (September 2, 2009) – The Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy) has named Donn Sorensen to the position of vice president of ambulatory operations. In this new role, he will lead evaluation of all facets of Mercy’s physician clinic infrastructure, guiding standardization efforts and consolidation where appropriate. This position is part of a core team that will coordinate and support physician integration and operations across the health system. Sorensen will retain his current responsibilities as executive vice president of St. John’s Health System in Springfield, Mo., where he oversees St. John’s Clinic operations. St. John’s is a member of Mercy.

“Donn’s experience in supporting St. John’s Clinic as a key facet of St. John’s Health System’s highly rated integrated delivery system makes him uniquely qualified to guide Mercy’s future plans for care delivery coordination and practice management,” said Lynn Britton, Mercy president and CEO.

Sorensen has been with Mercy since 2000. He has more than 25 years of healthcare experience, including service with Premier Practice Management, a national practice operations company; several specialty and multi-specialty group practices in Nashville, Tenn., and Baton Rouge, La.; and the Mayo Clinic, where he started his career.
