Lynn Britton Named President/CEO of Sisters of Mercy Health System
St. Louis, Mo. (Feb. 9, 2009) — The Board of Directors of Mercy Health Ministry, the sponsoring body of the Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy), is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynn Britton as president and chief executive officer of the health system, effective Jan. 30, 2009.
Britton most recently held the position of senior vice president with executive oversight for Mercy’s supply chain management operations, in addition to other responsibilities. He began his career in healthcare in 1992 as the director of materials management for Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City and has maintained close ties to supply chain management throughout his tenure with Mercy. Most notably, in 2001 Britton was the founding president of Resource Optimization & Innovation (ROi), Mercy’s consolidated supply chain division. Other supply chain positions held by Britton have included vice president for resource optimization at Mercy’s corporate office in St. Louis, and executive director of materials and resource management at St. John’s Mercy Health Care in St. Louis.
Britton holds a master’s degree in business from Oklahoma City University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Abilene Christian University. Prior to joining Mercy, Britton worked in the retail industry.
“Lynn recognized early on that supply chain needed to be a core organizational strategy at Mercy in order to effectively serve the needs of our internal customers and patients,” said Vance Moore, who has served as president of ROi since 2006. “Lynn had the vision and provided the leadership to take supply chain to a new level within Mercy, and ROi today is widely recognized as being one of the most innovative provider-based supply chain model within healthcare.”
Britton succeeds John Sullivan, who served as president and CEO since 2007.
