Fale Announces Plans to Retire as President/CEO of St. Joseph Mercy
HOT SPRINGS, AR (June 12, 2007) – Randall J. Fale, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center, has announced plans to retire at the end of the calendar year. The process of planning for new leadership is underway by the Sisters of Mercy Health System, which sponsors St. Joseph’s Mercy.
Fale was named president/CEO of St. Joseph’s Mercy in 1990. Over the years he led the move of the hospital campus from downtown Hot Springs to its current location, and the continued expansion of St. Joseph’s services and facilities, both within the hospital and in a growing number of outpatient settings. Under his leadership, St. Joseph’s Mercy has received numerous awards and distinctions, including several awards for quality excellence from HealthGrades, a national leader in measuring healthcare quality, and the Arkansas Governor’s Family Friendly Employer “Gold Award” in both 2006 and 2007. Fale is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and he holds a graduate degree in healthcare administration from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin.
“The decision to retire is never an easy one, but my wife Carol and I are looking forward to having the opportunity to spend more time with our family and to pursue other interests,” said Fale. “It has been an honor to serve alongside St. Joseph’s Mercy co-workers, physicians, members of our boards, auxiliary, volunteers and, in particular, the Sisters of Mercy. My heartfelt appreciation goes to each of them for their unwavering commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of our community and to living out the spirit of Mercy Service.”
“Randy has been associated with St. Joseph’s Mercy for close to two decades, and we have benefited tremendously from his leadership, experience and many contributions to our healthcare ministry,” said John Sullivan, president and CEO of the Sisters of Mercy Health System. “We congratulate Randy on his upcoming retirement and wish him well as he enjoys this next chapter in his life.”
