Shewmaker Named to Board of Directors at Sisters of Mercy Health System

LOUIS, MO (Sept. 4, 2007) – The Sisters of Mercy
Health System (Mercy) is pleased to announce that Jack
Shewmaker has joined its Board of Directors for a three-year
term. Shewmaker, a resident of Benton County in Northwest
Arkansas, retired in 1988 as President and Chief Operating
Officer of Wal-Mart Stores. He remains active with
Wal-Mart as a member of its Board of Directors.
Shewmaker has served as a
consultant to companies around the world and as a board
member for organizations including Lowe’s, Von’s–Safeway,
the Cleveland Clinic and Drury University. Besides
his active business involvement, Shewmaker is a leader
in promoting higher education through Students In Free
Enterprise, a global non-profit organization active
in more than 40 countries.

The Sisters of Mercy Health
