SISTERS OF MERCY HEALTH SYSTEM APPOINTS GENESIS PROJECT VICE PRESIDENT-CLINICAL SERVICES

St. Louis, MO (February 10, 2004) – The Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy) has named Jay Guffey to the position of vice president – clinical services for the Genesis Project, an initiative that will transform work processes and information technology across the Mercy System. In this role, Guffey will lead the redesign and implementation of clinical work processes and information technology, with the goal of significantly improving patient care services and outcomes.

Guffey has been with Mercy for over 25 years, most recently serving as clinical vice president at St. John’s Health System in Springfield, Missouri, with responsibility for perioperative services, home care, neuroscience, dietary and environmental services. His career at St. John’s also included leadership positions in respiratory therapy, medical staff services, quality management and regional medical supply. Guffey holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in respiratory care from Southwest Missouri State University.
