Four students receive college scholarships

The Sister M. Cornelia Blasko Foundation at Mercy St. Francis Hospital has chosen four local students for $1,000 college scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to students who are preparing for a career in a health care-related field, thanks to a generous gift from Dr. Grace O. Doane.

Rayanna Bailey of Summersville, McKenna Bockman of Winona, Michael Gaddy of Liberty and MyKayla Pringle of Willow Springs will each receive $500 for each semester of their freshman year, for a total of $1,000. The students were selected based on grade point average, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, work experience and a short essay.

“It’s always so fun to take a look at these applications,” said Jon Wade, president of Mercy St. Francis Hospital. “They reinforce what great students we have right here in our backyard, and they also give us a preview of our future health care leaders.”

The Sister M. Cornelia Blasko Foundation is part of Mercy Health Foundation. Through the Foundation, thousands of generous donors have helped support Mercy St. Francis Hospital and the health of the community for more than 55 years.
