Mother-Daughter, Father-Son Events Offered

ST. LOUIS - Mercy Fertility Care Services is hosting events this fall for parents and their preteen and teenage children with an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss fertility and to promote communication.

For girls and their mothers, an afternoon tea program is presented by registered nurses, a physician and a teen panel to answer questions and emphasize respect, understanding and appreciation of sexuality, as well as age-appropriate information on the reproductive system.

Girls ages 10 to 12 and their mothers are invited to attend the program from 1 to 4 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 16. This program will focus on changes in the body as girls enter puberty, modesty and values. The program for girls ages 13 to 17 will return in Spring 2015.

For boys and their fathers, an afternoon program is presented by a father, a physician and a teen panel to answer questions and emphasize respect, understanding and appreciation of sexuality, as well as age-appropriate information on the reproductive system.

Boys ages 13 to 17 along with their fathers are invited to attend the program from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19. This program will focus on dating, marriage, sexually transmitted diseases, protection of fertility through chastity and the sacredness of human life. 

Boys ages 11 and 12 along with their fathers are invited to attend the program from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. This program will focus on changes in the body as boys enter puberty, modesty, plans of action and the sacredness of human life. 

All programs will be held in the von Gontard Conference Center at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, 621 S. New Ballas Rd., in Creve Coeur.
