Mercy Home Health Receives Sixth Consecutive National Honor

November 7, 2014

Mercy is celebrating National Home Care Month with its sixth consecutive annual “HomeCare Elite” award, ranking Mercy Home Health in the top 25 percent of home care providers in the United States in terms of quality outcomes, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial management.

The 2014 HomeCare Elite award was recently bestowed to Mercy by OCS HomeCare, a national analytics and consulting organization dedicated to monitoring patient care and business performance data related to home health and hospice services. The annual HomeCare Elite awards are presented in cooperation with the National Research Corporation (NRC) and DecisionHealth.

Mercy’s top 25 percent distinction was achieved through reviews of publicly reported data from Home Health Compare and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cost reports related to all Medicare-certified home health agencies across the country. Additionally, OCS HomeCare also recognized the top 500 and top 100 home care agencies in the nation.

“We have an exceptional team of caregivers and office co-workers who help make sure Mercy Home Care is consistently performing at a very high level of quality in all regards,” said Becky Davied, LSCSW, director of home health and hospice services for Mercy Kansas Communities.

Mercy Home Health conducted 6,336 home visits in fiscal year 2014 (July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014) and serves an approximate 50-mile radius covering the counties of Montgomery, Wilson, Elk, Chautauqua and Labette. Services provided include in-home nursing care, therapy services, medication administration, and “telehealth” remote monitoring, among others.

The agency is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organization (JCAHO), and in 2012, the department expanded services to include Mercy Hospice, offering comprehensive end-of-life care for terminally ill patients and respite and bereavement support for caregivers.
