GE Healthcare Terminology

The following terms are associated with the CAP, Work-Out™ and Six Sigma toolsets.

 

Change Agent (CA)
Team facilitator who plans and helps the team leader/members build an effective team process, provides coaching on the application of CAP tools, and helps the team progress toward recommendations and solutions. Change Agents are trained by taking a CAP tools class and Work-OutTM training. (back to top)

Master Change Agent (MCA)
Team facilitator who has experience as a Change Agent facilitator and also trains new Change Agents within the organization. (back to top)

Project Sponsor
Co-worker at the appropriate supervisory level of the organization that has the authority to make the final decision on the project team recommendations. (back to top)

Project Owners
Staff and team members who have the knowledge, expertise and skills necessary to contribute on the project/process, are necessary for the completion of the project, and includes anyone who is a key stakeholder or is involved in the particular project or process. The team includes a leader who organizes the work of the team and keeps the team sponsor informed of the team’s progress.(back to top)

Champion
Organizational leader who can serve as a project sponsor and provides the leadership, time, passion and focus for the change and improvement effort. (back to top)

Black Belt
Individuals who facilitate Six Sigma projects and are trained in the Six Sigma process as well as the statistical tools utilized in the methodology. They are team leaders who are responsible for measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling key processes in the organization, and reporting progress to the project sponsor. Black Belts serve as a mentor to Green Belts in the organization and are full-time positions. (back to top)

Master Black Belt
Black Belts with advanced training who take on the additional responsibility of training Black Belts for the organization. Master Black Belts are mentors to Black Belts in the organization. (back to top)

Green Belt
Front-line co-workers who are trained in the Six Sigma methodology. They are similar to Black Belts except they work on process improvement efforts part-time. They are mentors to Yellow Belts. (back to top)

Yellow Belt
Project team members who are trained in the basic Six Sigma methodologies, but do not actively work on projects like Black Belts and Green Belts. (back to top)
