Vagus Nerve Stimulation

Our Mercy surgeons perform vagus nerve stimulation. The procedure consists of a tiny pulse generator, similar to a pacemaker, which is inserted near the collar bone. The generator then sends electrical pulses to the brain to help prevent seizures. If you are a candidate for this procedure and have questions, your Mercy surgeon will keep you comfortable and informed every step of the way. And thanks to our care team approach, your Mercy surgeon will work closely with your primary care doctor and your physical therapist for a coordinated and comprehensive approach to recovery.
