Cancer Resource Program

Patients with cancer should focus on healing. We provide assistance so they can do just that. Located in the C.H. Chub O’Reilly Cancer Center, our dedicated Cancer Resource Center provides a central location where we can provide you with medical expertise and educational, emotional, practical and spiritual support. Call 417-820-9397 or 800-432-2273 to speak to a Cancer Resource Nurse.

We support patients in many ways:

  • Cancer nurse program coordinators serve as a reliable contact and strong source of support regarding cancer treatment, post-treatment and follow-up care.
  • Our cancer resource center program coordinator coordinates education support meetings, special events and programs for patients, family members and the community.
  • The chaplain provides spiritual support for patients and families.
  • Our dietitian assists with nutritional information/recommendations and provides nutrition supplements.
  • A financial counselor assists with information and resources available to ease the financial stress that may come along with a cancer diagnosis.
  • Our psychologist provides support and strategies for managing stress.
  • A social worker provides emotional support and assistance in obtaining referrals to community agencies.
  • The Van K. Smith Community Health Library includes a medical librarian to help you locate information related to your cancer diagnosis or other health-related issues. Receive research assistance in person, by mail, email, phone or fax.
  • Education support meetings for patients, family members and close friends.
  • Special events include Camp Bluebird, an adult cancer camp held in April and September; and Survivor’s Day, a celebration of survivorship held the first Saturday in June.
