NICUPS: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Parent Support

The NICUPS are helping Santa with his mail this year! Just give us a bit of information and Santa will send a personalized letter to the children (young and old) in your life. Help us make a difference in the lives of families with premature and critically ill newborns.

NICUPS™ is a group of former NICU parents who give their time, effort and emotional support to make the NICU experience easier for other families. The group offers support as early as mid-pregnancy for mothers on bed rest and continues through the family’s time in the NICU, until support is no longer needed.

NICUPS efforts include:

  • One-on-one interaction with parents
  • Parent group meetings
  • Weekly gatherings for mothers hospitalized on bed rest
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Parent library with online resources
  • Support for families expecting again after an experience in the NICU
  • Creating an environment where families can come together and focus on their child's recovery

NICUPS relies solely on donations and on funds raised through the annual Letters from Santa campaign. Money raised has helped the group to purchase:

  • Medela Symphony Breast Pumps for each bedside in the NICU
  • New recliners
  • Car seats
  • Clothing for preemies
  • Developmental care seminar for NICU nurses
  • And much, much more

NICUPS parents know that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is not where anyone expects their pregnancy journey to end, and they’re here to offer the type of encouragement that can come only from those who’ve lived through the experience.
