The Mercy – Lebanon Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 2011. Dr. Curtis Mather, Vice-chair of the foundation said the scholarship program was established by the Foundation to fund medical and other health care advanced education to area students. The scholarship program began in 2006 and about 30 students have received scholarships. Total scholarship awards to date total more than $110,000.
The scholarship application is currently available by calling the Mercy – Lebanon Heritage Foundation office at 417-533-6009. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2011.
Vice President of the Mercy - Lebanon Heritage Foundation, Karen Simpson said, “Scholarship awards are based on academic background, probability of graduation, maturity, financial status, availability of resources, and the amount of funding available. All applicants must be a current resident of Laclede, Dallas, Webster, Texas, or Pulaski counties. We want students that are committed to returning to the Lebanon – area to practice for a period of time upon graduation.”
Awards will be determined by the aforementioned criteria. Scholarship amounts may include partial or full payment of academic programming including tuition, student fees, books, and other relevant costs all at the discretion of the scholarship selection committee. Students will not be reimbursed for travel costs, meals, computers or other unrelated costs.
Students are asked to provide high school transcript or GED, post-secondary transcript(s), copies of current licenses or certifications, and two letters of reference. Finalists are called in for interviews with the selection committee.
