To be considered for a Mercy shadow/observation experience, participants must complete the form below and submit by email to SPRG_TDO@Mercy.net. Incomplete packets will be returned to applicant for completion. Requests must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to start date.
Mercy - Springfield Medical Explorer Post #339 is a youth health care career exploration program jointly sponsored by Mercy Hospital Springfield and the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program. The overall purpose of Medical Explorers is to provide worksite-based experiences for young men and women ages 15 through 20. Education through observation enables youth to make an informed career decision.
An informational meeting (optional) will be held on May 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. for Medical Explorer candidates seeking aditional information about the program.
Explorer candidates applying for the Summer 2019 session must attend mandatory Orientation on May 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at Mercy Hospital - Springfield in the Catherine McAuley Conference Center (located in the Main Hospital; South Entrance, then first hallway to the right). Candidates must submit the Mercy Medical Explorers Application and Boy Scouts of America Application.
Program overview and enrollment information will be shared at that time. Candidates must register and pay the yearly dues before being allowed to attend the orientation on May 28, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in the Catherine McAuley Conference Center.

Yearly dues must be paid prior to May 28, 2019 through the online registration site that can be found here: http://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com.
Registration fees must be paid online by credit/debit card only. We are unable to accept cash or check payments.
Students interested in completing clinical rotations at Mercy must complete the Clinical Rotation Application, provide proof of medical malpractice coverage, clinical objectives and a letter of good standing from the academic program. An academic affiliation agreement signed by the school and Mercy must be in place prior to the student starting their rotation. Mercy does not assign clinical preceptors. Students must secure their preceptor prior to turning in their paperwork.
