Pam Ysusi, physical therapist with Mercy Home Care in Independence, was recently named “Home Care Professional Honoree of the Year” by the Kansas Home Care Association (KHCA).
Ysusi received the surprise award during a luncheon at the KHCA annual meeting Sept. 23 at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita.
The award recognizes Kansas home care professionals who exhibit distinguished performance related to teamwork, coordination of patient care, delivery of patient care and/or a special event or contribution.
Ysusi was nominated for the award by Mercy Home Care director Ronda Howerter, who wrote in her nomination, “(Ysusi’s) continually positive, solution-oriented outlook ensures that she brings the best outcome to any situation. Her day-to-day demeanor is marked by care and concern for our patients as well as other staff members. It would not be uncommon for her to make an evening call on her own time to assist someone back to bed, do a few more exercises or maybe just to see how a patient is doing. She has touched the lives of many with her expertise, generosity and unfailing kindness and always exceeds our expectations.”
Ysusi joined Mercy Home Care in April 2001 as a physical therapist. She received her physical therapy degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
She and her husband, Phillip, reside in Independence and have two sons, Matthew and Michael.
