Mercy’s physicians and staff recently made two significant donations benefitting children living in the Rolla, Mo. area communities.
Mercy Clinic-Rolla division donated $2,320, and was matched dollar for dollar for a total of $4,640 to the Community Partnership’s Capable Kids program. The funds were raised as part of Mercy Clinic’s Force For Good bi-yearly campaigns. Force for Good efforts in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas have totaled more than $1 million.
On hand for the check presentation Oct. 26, 2010 to Lori Moss, Community Partnership Development and Community Relations Director, were Mercy's physician, Dr. Kathi Clement ; Amy Beechner-McCarthy, executive director of the Community Partnership; Mercy's physician, Dr. Karrie Cunningham; Jean Darnell, Capable Kids and Families Director; Karen Gabriele, Mercy's practice manager.
Karen Simpson, St. John’s Lebanon Heritage Foundation vice president and Gerald Dowdy, St. John’s Clinic – Rolla division vice president, presented school supplies to Dr. Aaron Zalis - superintendent of Rolla Public Schools Nov. 4. The supplies, which will be donated to Truman Elemenatry, were provided by St. John’s Rolla area co-workers as part of the annual Crayon Crusade. The Crayon Crusade is a campaign to collect back-to-school supplies and other basic necessities area children need in order to succeed in school. Since the campaign began in 2004, more than 30,000 items have been collected.
