Heart Healthy Recipe Contest

Taking entrees until May 15, 2011

The Heart Healthy Recipe Contest is open to anyone with a favorite heart healthy recipe to share. Submissions will be analyzed for nutritional content and chosen based on uniqueness and health benefit. Winners will receive free admission to the Cooking School class and a fun price! Recipe submissions should include: Contributor’s full name and contact information, and the complete recipe including the number of servings per recipe. Mercy to name King and Queen of Hearts

Mercy will recognize this year’s King and Queen of Hearts Feb. 10 at Mercy Hammons Heart Institute Auditorium. The event recognizes individuals who have made substantial and inspiring life changes to avoid additional heart problems. Nominations are taken from Mercy and other local cardiac rehab programs. Those nominated share in a special event that celebrates their improvements and efforts towards better health.

Learn how to prepare food that is heart-healthy, satisfying and easy to make as Mercy registered dietitians will show you how at our free, heart-healthy cooking demonstrations 10 AM – 4 PM, Friday, Feb. 11 at Macy’s at Battlefield Mall. There will be drawings for attendance prizes every half-hour, plus a chance for you to become a national Go-Red for Women spokesperson.Last year, Springfieldian Cheryl Holmes of Springfield was chosen to be the face of the American Heart Association’s national Go Red For Women movement. This year, it could be you! The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement celebrates the power that women have to band together in an effort to wipe out heart disease and stroke. Mercy Hospital—Lebanon Hosts Ladies Night Out

Mercy Hospital—Lebanon will host its seventh annual Ladies Night Out health and wellness event 4-7 p.m., Feb. 17, 2011 The free event is open to the public and will feature numerous displays and demonstrations from the hospital, local organizations, and area businesses. Women may also participate in reduced-price screenings, free cardio dance lessons, and cooking demonstrations. There will be door prizes and a grand prize drawing at the end of the evening.
