Current and former patients, doctors, nurses, administrators, supporters and pioneers - retired physicians and administrators - of Mercy Children’s Hospital will gather for a dedication ceremony marking the official grand opening at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24.
While Mercy Children’s Hospital has been serving the community for years, the phased construction process to bring together private pediatric patient rooms, neonatal intensive care pods, pediatric intensive care unit and Tests and Treatments area - the newest to be completed - into a comprehensive space for kids and their families is now finished.
The Tests and Treatments area, located on the ground floor of the Mercy Children’s Hospital patient tower, brings together all outpatient services for children making it more accessible and comfortable for patients and families. Services provided in that area include: lab, audiology, imaging, EEG, GI, speech therapy, minor procedures and diagnostic testing.
“Many children must have multiple tests and procedures done, and to make this process easier we brought together those services into a comfortable space for kids,” said Dr. Joseph Kahn, chairman of pediatrics at Mercy Children’s Hospital. “The new Tests and Treatments area will help these families navigate the services and feel more at ease.”
Mercy Children’s Hospital serves as the flagship children’s hospital within Mercy.
