St. Joseph’s Mercy Health System welcomes Dr. Ken Wright to Mercy Clinic. Wright, a family practice physician, began seeing patients this week at 101 McGowan Court, near St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.
“It’s a good healthcare system. It’s large enough that it has a large variety of specialists and yet they want to do very individualized, personal healthcare treatment,” Wright said. “It’s a great opportunity for me.”
Wright earned his medical degree from SABA University School of Medicine and did his residency in Texarkana. He was also a member of the Air Force, traveling to Iraq in 2004 and the Middle East in 2006. He comes to St. Joseph’s mercy after working in Ruston, La.
“I spent several years in the Air Force and have been able to travel overseas. I spent a lot of time down in Texas, South Dakota, Georgia and Louisiana,” Wright said. “I have family here in Hot Springs, so that’s a good thing.”
Wright should quickly become acclimated to Hot Springs and the recreation activities it offers.
“I do a lot of water skiing and a lot of fishing. I like the outdoors very much,” Wright said.
Though he’s a family practice physician, Wright also has an interest in brain trauma and said he enjoys “helping out with that.” Wright is utilizing the office space previously used by Dr. J. Richard Gardial and he is accepting new patients.
“I just really appreciate the opportunity. There’s a lot of good things going on in our healthcare system. It’s a very progressive system,” Wright said. “I look forward to seeing patients.”
