Mercy Clinic El Reno’s new family doctor brings big-time care, small-town virtue
Russell Ingram, M.D., a family practice physician with deep rural roots, joins the team of medical professionals at Mercy Clinic El Reno.
“I have an appreciation of rural communities since I grew up in a small town,” he said. A Holdenville native, Dr. Ingram attributes his initial thoughts about a career in medicine to a standout high school educator.
“I had a great anatomy teacher,” Dr. Ingram said. “I learned that I really liked science and I really liked people. It was a natural fit.”
Dr. Ingram made an impression on his peers in both medical school and during his residency. He was named Family Medical Student of the Year while earning his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and picked up chief resident honors at the Great Plains Family Medicine Residency Program.
A member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association, Dr. Ingram holds certifications in advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, advanced life support in obstetrics and neonatal life support.
Clinical interests also include emergency care and obstetrics.
Dr. Ingram is also an avid runner who has won several races, including last year’s Red Earth 5K in Oklahoma City. “Running is a great stress-reliever for me,” he said. “I’ll win a race here and there, but it’s just a great outlet.”
Leading by example with his healthy lifestyle, Dr. Ingram believes that quality medical care begins with understanding.
“Patient education and knowledge of their illness is extremely important,” he said. “The more they know, the better equipped they are to take control of their health.”
Mercy Clinic El Reno is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 2315 Parkview Drive. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Ingram, call (405) 295-2200.
