St. Edward Mercy has been named one of the top hospitals in the nation by the National Research Corporation (NRC) – the nation’s leading consumer health care study organization. The NRC has announced its Consumer Choice award winners for 2011/2012 and for the eighth year in a row St. Edward Mercy is proud to have earned the honor.
The award is based on the NRC Ticker data, the largest consumer survey on Healthcare in the United States. Consumers in the Fort Smith market have ranked St. Edward Mercy Medical Center at the top of the list based on four essential consumer metrics.
“Consumers are taking a more proactive role in their healthcare decisions and demanding higher quality. In a constantly changing healthcare industry, consumer perception is becoming more and more vital to the success of all hospitals,” said Susan Henricks, president/COO at NRC. “At NRC, we know it is imperative to learn from the patient’s experience in order to improve the quality of care. The Consumer Choice Award recognizes those facilities that are meeting or exceeding the needs of consumers – their patients.”
NRC’s Ticker Survey is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to measure hospital performance and preferences contains more consumer responses than NRC’s study.
“This award is really a tribute to our doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers and their commitment to providing compassionate care and exceptional service to those we serve,” said Kim Day, interim president/CEO of St. Edward Mercy. “We are honored to receive this award because it comes from our patients. We will continue to look for new ways to make their experiences the best possible.”
St. Edward Mercy in Fort Smith is one of only three Arkansas hospitals to earn this award.
