For the third year in a row, Mercy Home Care of Independence has been ranked in the top 25 percent of home care providers in the United States in terms of quality outcomes, process measure implementation and financial performance measures.
The “2011 HomeCare Elite” award was recently bestowed to the Mercy service by OCS HomeCare, a national analytics and consulting organization dedicated to monitoring patient care and business performance data related to home health and hospice services.
Mercy’s top 25 percent distinction was achieved through reviews of publicly reported data from Home Health Compare and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cost reports related to all Medicare-certified home health agencies across the country. Additionally, OCS HomeCare also recognized the top 500 and top 100 home care agencies in the nation.
“It is increasingly challenging to manage the cost/quality equation. The 2011 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patients with the best possible care while managing their business efficiently and effectively,” said Amanda Twiss, CEO of OCS and My Innerview. “This year, we updated our methodology to reflect industry focus and, based on this rigorous analysis, we congratulateMercy Home Careon being one of the top home care agencies in the country.”
Mercy Home Care services hundreds of patients annually in Independence and within an approximate 50-mile radius, providing in-home nursing care, therapy services, medication administration, and “telehealth” remote monitoring, among other services. The agency is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
Mercy Home Care of Fort Scott also earned 2011 HomeCare Elite designation.
