Care for the body and soul

January 4, 2012

Kandi Mount was a hospital-based chaplain

for years before moving to Mercy Clinic in

Bella Vista and piloting the clinic chaplaincy

program.

Chaplains have been a part of hospital life for years. They provide comfort and care to patients and their families. Now Mercy Clinic in Bella Vista is offering patients seen in the clinic a chance to receive pastoral care. It’s a new idea but one that fits in well with this clinic’s medical home model. The medical home takes a team approach to caring for patients. In addition to the physician, patients have the benefit of a case manager, care coordinator, clinical pharmacist and in this case a chaplain. The chaplain offers a willing ear to patients in need.
