Kevin Roy, Mercy Health Center safety manager, and his team have been hard at work preparing for the wicked weather that Oklahomans see each spring.
“Last year during the May 24 tornado, we had 3,000 neighbors seeking shelter in our halls,” said Roy. “That’s a huge number of people, in addition to our patients and co-workers, but we’re not going to turn anyone away so we need to be prepared to handle it.”
Roy and his team are testing communications, meeting with each department to define roles and procedures and are even participating in a city-wide tornado drill later this month.
In the video below, Roy discusses those plans with News Channel 5’s Carla Wade.
