2012 Black and White Charity Ball

Mercy Health Foundation Berryville recently announced the completion of the Redesigning Healthcare…Room by Room Capital Campaign at its 2012 Black and White Charity Ball on Saturday, February 25.  Through generous support of co-workers, physicians, and community members, cash donations and pledge commitments total $250,188 and thus conclude the Foundation’s first Capital Campaign.  Patient room renovations began in October of 2011, one room at a time, and will continue until all 16 inpatient rooms are complete.

With this great success, the Foundation will now move on to a new project, which will support Mercy Hospital Berryville’s Laboratory Department.  The Lab is in need of three pieces of equipment, including a Double-Headed Microscope, a Coagulation Instrument, and an I-Stat Machine.  This project was also announced at the Black and White Charity Ball where supporters came together to raise over $25,000 towards a $65,000 goal.

“This community is so generous in its support of local healthcare needs” says Nicole Hoppel, Executive Director of Mercy Health Foundation Berryville.  “Mercy Hospital Berryville is a local hospital, committed to the community and I appreciate the continual dedication of all who have and continue to support the expansion of programs and services.”

In addition to great philanthropic projects, Mercy Health Foundation Berryville announced Dr. Shannon Card as recipient of the 2011 Physicians Excellence Award Winner at the Charity Ball.  Dr. Card has been a Family Practice physician with Mercy for over 30 years, delivering countless babies and treating each of his patients with a kind, caring, and compassionate heart.  Dr. Card is also an avid photographer, whose work you will see throughout the hospital and at the Charity Ball live and silent auctions each year.

“Dr. Card is a great asset to this hospital and this community; we are blessed to have him along with the excellent knowledge and care he brings each day” states Nicole Hoppel.  “He is a well-deserved recipient of this award.”
