OKLAHOMA CITY – Chris Thompson, M.D., has joined Mercy Clinic to practice hematology and oncology at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City.
“I work hard to provide timely and individualized care to patients with cancer and diseases of the blood,” said Thompson. “Mercy’s Cancer Resource Center and devoted group of providers and staff provide an excellent foundation for incorporating an integrated approach to care where the patient truly does come first.”
Thompson says he believes no decision about treatments for an illness should be made without ensuring the patient and his or her family fully understands the problem, the available treatment options, and the journey the treatment will take them on.
“Chris is patient and compassionate and brings a fresh outlook to oncology and hematology, having recently completed his fellowship” said Tracy Higgs, executive director of oncology services. “He’s passionate about patient care and research, which makes him a nice addition to our oncology team.”
Thompson, an Oklahoma City native, received his bachelor’s degree and his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Oklahoma, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine. He completed his fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he worked in the department of medical oncology.
