Rheumatologist Dr. Renu Kaur has joined Mercy Clinic Hot Springs.
Dr. Kaur comes to Hot Springs after serving as Chief Fellow at the Center for Excellence for Arthritis and Rheumatology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La.
Rheumatologists deal with disorders affecting joints, muscles, connective tissues, and soft tissues around joints and bones. With more than 200 types of these diseases, it can be challenging to diagnose and treat them. Other diseases diagnosed and managed by rheumatologists include: osteoarthritis and many other forms of arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, lupus, back pain, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, and post-traumatic stress disorders.
“As a Rheumatologist you’re dealing with patients who have joint pains, chronic joint pains and connective tissue diseases,” Dr. Kaur said. “These conditions are prevalent here with our elderly population and retirement community.”
Dr. Kaur is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties – Rheumatology. She is a native of India but has spent the past five years in the United States. This included a residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill.
Hot Springs was the perfect setting for her.
“It’s very pretty here. I love to look at the fall colors,” Dr. Kaur. “I didn’t want to live in a big city. I’ve lived in Chicago and knew that wasn’t what we were looking for long term. This is what we were looking for.”
Dr. Kaur joins Mercy Clinic Rheumatologists James W. Logan, M.D., and Melody D. St. John, M.D., in Hot Springs. The office is located at 100 McGowan Court in Hot Springs. Call (501) 627-1800 for information.
