Mercy to Co-sponsor Community Blood Drives in December

December 7, 2012

Donating blood saves lives.

Mercy Hospital Washington works with area schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to collect life-saving blood products from generous donors. Donations provide life support for Mercy patients. Upcoming events include:

  • The Mercy Co-Worker and Community Blood Drive. The drive will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, on the main floor of the Mercy Medical Building South, 901 Patients First Drive in Washington.
  • The Washington School of Practical Nursing Holiday Blood Drive. The drive will be held from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. Thursday, December 13, in the Practical Nursing Classroom at Four Rivers Career Center, 1978 Image Drive in Washington.

Walk-ins are welcome. Donors with appointments will be given their scheduled time. To make an appointment, visit or call 1-866-37DONOR. All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian. They must be at least 110 pounds and in good health. All donors should allow eight weeks between donations. For questions regarding medical eligibility, call 1-866-37DONOR.

Mercy Blood Donor Services is the only mobile, hospital-based, blood collection center in the state of Missouri. Being mobile means bringing services to peoples’ places of business, worship or school. The service allows the hospital to collect life-saving blood supplies from the community, for the community at a portion of the cost. To host a community blood drive at your school, business, organization or place of worship, call 1-866-37DONOR.
