Mercy Home Health and Hospice is pleased to announce the selection of Brenda Bailey, RN, as 2012 “Mercy Home Health Employee of the Year.”
The nominations were open to all home health staff, including nurses, physical therapist, aides and office staff.
“The selection committee had to make a difficult decision,” said Becky Davied, director of home health and hospice. “Most nomination forms included handwritten stories from patients that shared how valuable that co-worker is or has been in their recovery or health care management.”
“Although every co-worker in the home health and hospice department are worthy of the recognition, Brenda’s nominations stood out this year. She exemplifies compassionate care for her patients and exceptional teamwork. She truly displays the Mercy Mission in the care that she provides and we are privileged to have her on our Mercy Home Health and Hospice team.”
One of Brenda’s patients shared, “Although I didn’t need home health very long, I was impressed with Brenda. She is very personable and did a very good job in all that she did for me.”
“Brenda is a great nurse to her patients and works hard to help everyone around her,” said Sandy Hayes, home health and hospice administrative assistant. “She is a “super user”, or expert, in the implementation of our electronic health record. She read the manuals cover to cover and directs our staff on charting techniques on a daily basis. She performs chart audits, helps with our advisory committees and is willing to step in to cover staffing vacancies when necessary. She writes detailed notes for physicians and is prompt to see her patients. One of her recent patients even referred to her as a “Dandy of a Nurse.”
Mercy Home Health was established in November 1978 and today serves approximately 900 annually, providing in-home nursing care, therapy services and medication administration among other services. In July, hospice care was added to the scope of services.
