ST. LOUIS - A $40,000 gift to assist cancer patients at Mercy David C. Pratt Cancer Center was recently made through the generosity of the Cancer Care Foundation. The Foundation’s purpose and intent for the money is to aid patients in need of financial assistance while battling cancer so they can focus on beating the disease.

“We are sincerely thankful for this generous gift that will help offer some relief to patients who are struggling financially,” said Carol Murphy, manager of Mercy Cancer Support Services. “Our patients are dealing with so much when fighting cancer and when finances become a burden it can hamper treatment and recovery.”

The Cancer Care Foundation is the charitable arm of The Steinberg Winter Classic  and all other events surrounding it. It is the vision and the passion of Mr. Joe Fresta, Jr., a two-time testicular cancer survivor. All proceeds go directly into the hands of local families in need and are not used for any administrative costs as all board members volunteer their time and services to fighting the fight.
