February 7, 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahomans are sticking another feather in Mercy’s cap this month, as MetroFamily magazine announces its annual Family Favorites list.

Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City was named:

  • Best Hospital
  • Best Place to Have a Baby
  • Best Emergency Department

And Mercy’s Dr. Kelly Stephens, of Mercy Clinic Edmond Memorial, was named Best Pediatrician/Family Doctor.

“This recognition means a lot, especially considering it’s coming from readers right here in the metro,” said Jim Gebhart, president of Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. “We know people have a choice in health care and we work really hard to provide the best care possible. Thank you for your confidence in us.”

Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City receives this honor after also earning a national top spot for consumer choice. National Research Corporation in October announced Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City won the 2012/2013 Consumer Choice Award.

Researchers from the National Research Corporation, the largest consumer survey on health care in the U.S., asked Oklahoma City consumers which local hospital they liked best, specifically asking about overall quality, image and reputation, and quality of doctors and nurses. They ranked Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City the best for:

  • Best Overall Quality
  • Best Image/Reputation
  • Best Doctors
  • Best Nurses

In July, Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City earned The Oklahoman’s Readers Choice Awards, being named:

  • Best Medical Facility
  • Best Health Care Employer
  • Best Hospital for Child Birth

Mercy is the sixth largest Catholic health care system in the U.S. and serves more than 3 million people annually. Mercy includes 32 hospitals, 300 outpatient facilities, 38,000 co-workers and 1,900 integrated physicians in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
