AARP Driver Safety Course to be Hosted at Mercy

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Mo. - The nation's first and largest classroom refresher course geared especially to safety needs will be offered from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. April 10 at Mercy St. Francis Hospital. The AARP Driver Safety Course will teach attendees the following:

  • How to compensate for changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time.
  • How to handle problem situations such as left turns, right-of-way, free-way traffic, trucks, and blind spots.
  • What to do if confronted by an aggressive driver.
  • When to use a car phone.
  • How medications may affect driving.
  • How to properly use anti-lock brakes, air bags, and safety belts.
  • How to assess one’s own and others’ abilities via a “Personal Driving Capability Index.”

Call 417-934-6504 to reserve a seat in the class. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Some insurance companies offer discounts to those who have taken this course.
