It won’t be long before we’re pulling fresh vegetables from our gardens, and storing those safely can mean a better diet all year long. To get you started, or give you a refresher course, Mercy St. Francis Hospital is hosting a free education session which will focus on food preservation.
The event is set for Friday, May 24 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Sister’s Dining Room at Mercy St. Francis Hospital. Cammy Younger, a nutrition and health education specialist with University of Missouri Extension, will show you how to safely use a pressure cooker for canning food.
While this is a part of Mercy St. Francis Hospital’s diabetic education program, you do not have to have diabetes to attend. Along with the free presentation, there will also be door prizes and snacks.
