Dr. Mekki Saba, orthopedic surgeon who has been providing services at Mercy Independence for the past several months since the departure of Dr. V.C. Patel last fall, has recently accepted an offer to extend his local practice.
Dr. Saba will continue to provide orthopedic surgery services with Mercy Clinic until December 2015. In the meantime, recruitment efforts continue for a successor who will be prepared to step into the role upon Dr. Saba’s retirement.
Dr. Saba has more than 37 years experience in orthopedic surgery, including several years of practice in the United Kingdom and 16 years of practice in Fort Scott. More recently, he practiced with the Northwest Kansas Orthopedic Surgery Department in Colby.
He performs a variety of elective and trauma-related surgeries, including hip, knee, shoulder and spine procedures, as well as repair of injuries to the extremities.
“Dr. Saba has provided a great service for our community in the past several months,” said Lana Brewster, physician recruitment coordinator for Mercy Independence. “We are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with him and very blessed to have a surgeon - and a true gentleman - of his caliber in our community.”
More information on Dr. Saba’s practice is available by calling Mercy Clinic at 620-332-3280.
