On Thursday, December 5th, Mercy Hospital will host a walk-in mammogram event from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. called “Give Yourself a Gift.” Ladies can also take advantage of free heel scan bone density screens, education materials, refreshments and give-a-ways made possible by a grant from the Hope 4 You Foundation.
“Let’s face it; women are busy and often let other commitments take precedence over caring for themselves,” said Becky Williams, Mercy Fort Scott’s Imaging Services director. “It can be difficult to find time to schedule an annual mammogram.”
Women who wish to take advantage of a walk-in mammogram on December 5th will register at Mercy Hospital’s main registration desk. Present a copy of the patient’s insurance card, if applicable.
“Early detection is vital, so make sure you and the special women in your life have their annual mammogram. It could be life-saving,” Williams stressed.
Insurance will be billed for the mammogram; however, diagnostic mammograms are not included in the walk-in service on December 5.
No prescription is necessary if the patient’s physician is Mercy integrated. If experiencing any breast discomfort or problems, women need to see a physician for an order. Women should refrain from wearing deodorant or powder the day of the mammogram.
