Dec. 11 class latest in diabetic education program

Life with diabetes can be difficult. Aside from the ups and downs of the disease, a number of tests can leave a patient lost or confused.

That’s why Mercy St. Francis Hospital is inviting the community to attend its latest class “Understanding Laboratory Numbers.” The free class is part of Mercy’s diabetic education program that focuses on setting healthy goals.

Registered nurse Jane Foy, who is a cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation manager and infection control nurse with Mercy, will speak at the Dec. 11 event.

Attendees can expect to learn about blood pressure, blood glucose, A1C testing, and more. “You’re never too old to learn something new when it comes to improving your lifestyle,” said Foy.

The event on Wednesday, Dec. 11, starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Mercy St. Francis Dining Room, located at 100 W. US Highway 60. For a free ride, call SMTS at (417) 934-1575. There will be snacks and door prizes.
