Dr. Kenneth Vest joins Mercy Hot Springs

Mercy Hospital Hot Springs is proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Kenneth Vest to the Behavioral Health Unit.

Dr. Vest comes to Mercy Hot Springs from Community Counseling Services, Inc., where he was medical director her in Hot Springs. He will serve with the same title at Mercy.

“I’m very excited to become the new medical director here. It’s part of a hospital that I respect. We have a great many specialties here that can assist in the management of what can be very complicated cases in terms of medical conditions,” Dr. Vest said. “They have a long tradition of caring for the community and providing services.”

Dr. Vest graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock in 1990. He was in private practice in Hot Springs until 2002, when he joined Community Counseling.

“I’ve been practicing here in Hot Springs for more than 20 years,” Dr. Vest said... “I raised both my children here and have a small farm outside of town. It’s a wonderful community.”

He is board certified in General Psychiatry.

“The thing that draws me to Geriatrics is not only are you treating individuals but you’re also assisting their families,” Dr. Vest said. “I think you lighten the burden of a great many people if you’re able to find ways to manage their stress, provide them with services, improve a number of people’s quality of life.”

Staff working in the Behavioral Health Unit includes Christiane Carlisle, PLMSW, who is the Licensed Social Worker, and Jim Ed Hays, who is the Recreational Therapist.
