ST. LOUIS - Mercy would like to welcome the Ladue Fire Department as it joins Mercy for medical direction. The Ladue Fire Department is located in the heart of St. Louis County and has served its community since 1931. The department provides advanced life support with paramedics who respond by ambulance and other fire apparatus.
Dr. John Wilmas, Mercy’s EMS medical director, is excited about the opportunity to work with Ladue Fire. “We’re looking forward to sharing EMS education, outreach and other technology advancements with the Ladue team,” Wilmas said. “Together we’ll find a strong partnership and provide great care to our communities.”
Mercy Hospital Saint Louis provides medical direction to 10 fire departments and districts in the metro area. Medical direction includes learning management systems with face-to-face education by Mercy physicians. Other recent innovations include EMSource, an interactive EMS app for first responders. Future projects include linking EMS providers and the hospital to insure a seamless continuum of care.
