Mercy Celebrates Physician Couple this Valentine's Week

February 12, 2014

Drs. Ajit and Seema Lale

“My heart said so.”

That’s how Dr. Ajit Lale knew Dr. Seema Lale was the woman he wanted to marry.

This Valentine’s week, we celebrate all our Mercy married couples and share their “love stories.”

Following is the story of Dr. Ajit, internal medicine physician, and Dr. Seema, clinical pathologist, who moved to Independence and joined mercy in 2012.

When and where did you two meet?

The year was 1995. They met in an Intensive Care Unit while completing medical residencies in Bombay/Mumbai, India.

How did you know he/she was “the one” and decide to marry?

“My heart said so,” Dr. Ajit Lale said, noting the couple dated from 1995 to 1998.

Dr. Seema said, “I was very convinced when I saw how he much he cared for his patients; how important they were to him and how he was so respected by the staff at the hospital where we met. I knew he was a good human being.”

What was the wedding like?

It was a very traditional Indian wedding on Feb. 3, 1998.

How do you celebrate your anniversary?

Usually reminiscing and sharing old memories, Dr. Ajit said.

What is your favorite activity to do together?

Talking...about anything but medicine!

And one of their new-found passions is attending Indy Bulldog and Pirate basketball games.

What topic do you disagree on most?

“Of course, any medical discussion!”

Tell us about your children?

One son, Amit, age 10, who attends Jefferson School in Independence.

Congratulations, Drs. Ajit and Seema, and thank you for being part of our team.
