Cherryvale Clinic to Offer Women's Heart Health Program

February 21, 2014

Davia Knight, PA-C

Mercy Clinic Family Medicine Cherryvale

Area women are invited to join Davia Knight, physician assistant, for a special, free presentation on women’s heart health Monday, Feb. 24, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine Cherryvale, 213 W. Main.

Knight’s “The Heart of a Woman” presentation will cover women’s risk factors for heart disease; signs and symptoms of heart attack, pointing out the unique differences between women and men; and lifestyle modifications that can help women maintain good heart health.

The presentation is co-sponsored by Cherryvale Pharmacy, located within the Mercy clinic, and pharmacist Elijah Hershey also will be on hand to offer information and answer questions.

Giveaways and door prizes will be offered, as well as healthy refreshments and educational take-home material.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death – among both men and women – in the United States. Michele Foreman, RN, BSN, coordinator of Mercy Cardiac Rehab, shares that an estimated 64% of women who dies suddenly of coronary disease have no previous symptoms.

Originally from Cherryvale, Knight joined Mercy’s clinic and fellow physician assistant Marc Hoffmeister in 2011. The clinic offers routine primary care via scheduled appointments and walk-in service, lab and X-ray services, as well as the MyMercy online health record for patients.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

More information is available by calling the clinic at 620-336-2131.
