ST. LOUIS – Mercy Clinic Sports Medicine, led by Mercy Clinic and St. Louis Cardinals team physician Brian Mahaffey, MD., has opened at 15945 Clayton Rd., Ste. 210. Patients may call 636-893-1360 to schedule an appointment.

Mahaffey comes to St. Louis from Mercy Sports Medicine in Springfield. He works closely with orthopedists, certified athletic trainers, rehab therapists, and strength and conditioning specialists.

In Springfield, Mahaffey helped develop a regionally known sports medicine program. In addition to serving as the St. Louis Cardinals’ primary care sports medicine physician, he is the Cardinals’ minor league liaison and has been the long-time head physician for the Missouri State University athletics program.

In Mercy’s east Missouri region, Mercy’s services include a 979-bed hospital in St. Louis, 187-bed hospital in Washington, 251-bed hospital in Crystal City and Mercy Clinic, a 590-member multispecialty physician organization. Mercy’s work in sports medicine includes the role of Official Medical Provider for a number of professional teams and events, including the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Ambush and the Go! St. Louis Marathon. Mercy Sports Medicine also provides care for a number of area high school and youth sports leagues, as well as weekend athletes across the region.
