Mercy St. Francis Hospital Offers Walk with Ease Arthritis Class

April 8, 2014

According to the Arthritis Foundation, Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States.  Mercy St. Francis Hospital wants to encourage those dealing with the disease to start moving by offering a free six-week course entitled, “Walk with Ease,” developed by the Arthritis Foundation.

The program starts Monday, May 5, and runs through June 13.  Classes will be held at the Mountain View Community Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10-11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to attend every class.

“The goal of this course is to get people who do not walk for exercise to start developing the routine,” explained Carol Schmidt, certified instructor. “We also want to get those who do walk, to increase their exercise time to at least 30 minutes a day by the end of the course.”

Each participant will receive a workbook to read and complete throughout the six weeks.  Contact Carol Schmidt to register at 417-934-7097.
