Weather Experts to Speak With Seniors About Storm Safety

May 12, 2014

One-hour presentation will be held Thursday, May 29

Like it or not, storm season has arrived. Whether it’s a tornado, damaging winds or dangerous hail, Mother Nature’s wrath can impact anyone of any age. For seniors, quick thinking can be a matter of life or death.

That’s why KOLR10 meteorologist Lindsey Day will headline the presentation “Severe Weather Awareness for Seniors” on Thursday, May 29, from 10-11 a.m. Mike Edwards with KJEL Radio and Randy Rowe, director of the Laclede County Office of Emergency Management, also plan to speak about staying safe during severe weather.

The free event, sponsored by Mercy Home Care, will be held at the Hughes Senior Center, located at 460 W. 5th Street in Lebanon.

Mercy Home Health and Hospice will also be giving away small flashlights, as well as holding drawings for free weather radios. Registration is not required; for more information call 417-532-3040.
