Workers at one of Lebanon, Missouri’s biggest employers will start the summer on a healthy note. Mercy Hospital Lebanon plans to bring some of its top doctors and co-workers to Emerson Climate Technologies for an employee health fair on June 19.
Mercy has a strong partnership with Emerson, a leader in the HVAC industry; the company’s plant at 701 E. Highway 32 in Lebanon employs nearly 1,000 people – all of whom are invited to the Emerson Climate Technologies Health Fair.
“We’ve had a fantastic relationship with Mercy for the better part of a decade,” said George Svaranowic, human resources manager at Emerson. “Because of that bond, we’re bringing a full-blown wellness fair to benefit all of our employees who are already insured by Mercy.”
Emerson employees are invited to take advantage of the following free screenings and services: blood sugar testing, nutritional tips, cataract and glaucoma checks, chronic pain discussions, scheduling of free vein screens and mammograms, grip strength testing, smoking cessation, home health and hospice inquiries, podiatry, Lasik, vision exam (basic) and OB/GYN.
In early June, Mercy began offering health risk assessments (HRAs) to Emerson employees; they’ll review results during the June 19 event. “They had their cholesterol, blood sugar and triglycerides checked,” added Svaranowic. “Now they’re getting excited, and many have already signed up for the health fair. It will be a great success.”
Attendees will also learn more about services like MyMercy, which helps patients connect with physicians and health information online. In addition, there will be two physician presentations during the health fair. The first, “Foot Care for Those Working on the Line,” will be presented by Tyler Grout, DPM, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. The second, “Importance of Health Screening and New Technologies,” will be presented by Drs. Daanish Kazi and Samira Hasan at 10:20 a.m., 11:20 a.m., 11:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Mercy Fitness Center - Lebanon will hold drawings for gift certificates; representatives from Anytime Fitness, Great Life Fitness and Missouri State University will also be in attendance.
The health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and training rooms of the plant, which is located at 701 E. Highway 32 in Lebanon, Mo. There will also be giveaways and prizes.
